Raw Material Handling System

Stronger protection. Zero interruptions.

Zone Introduction

Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) is the first stage of steel production.
It continuously supplies essential raw materials like iron ore, coke, coal, and limestone to Sinter Plant, Coke Oven and Blast Furnace.

If RMHS stops → Entire steel plant stops.

High reliability is crucial for uninterrupted steel production.

Process Description

Raw materials coming from railway wagons, trucks, or mines are unloaded into hoppers and transferred through feeders, conveyor belts, and chutes across long distances.

These materials arrive in different sizes — from large boulders to sharp fines.
They are highly abrasive in nature and often contain hard minerals like silica.

Even thick steel plates wear thin, bend or crack.
Since RMHS runs 24/7, any stoppage directly impacts entire production.

Areas of Wear & Root Causes

Hopper floors → Impact dents & holes

Chute liners → Sliding abrasion

Feeder liners → Friction + fatigue cracks

Transfer points → Rebound gouging

Conveyor loading → Localized severe wear

Performance Loss & Downtime Impact

Spillage → Unsafe & cleanup downtime

Belt mistracking → Conveyor failure

Frequent patch welding → High maintenance cost

Reduced feed → Production loss

ArcoPlate → Handles impact + sliding abrasion
